Mergenthaler Vocational-Technical High School (Mervo) in Baltimore has once again demonstrated its engineering prowess by securing the top three positions at the 2025 Maryland Regional KidWind Competition.

This marks the third consecutive year that Mervo’s engineering students have achieved a clean sweep at this prestigious event, underscoring the school’s commitment to excellence in renewable energy education.
The KidWind Challenge is a hands-on competition that engages students in designing, constructing, and testing small-scale wind turbines. Mervo’s consistent success in this competition highlights the strength of its STEM programs and the dedication of its students and faculty.
Following their regional triumph, Mervo’s top team, “Mervo 25,” is set to represent Maryland at the World KidWind Challenge in Phoenix, Arizona. This international event brings together leading student teams to showcase their innovations in wind energy technology.
The Baltimore City Engineering Alliance has initiated a fundraising campaign to support Mervo’s journey to the national stage. Contributions will assist with travel expenses and provide the students with the opportunity to compete and network on a global platform.
Mervo’s achievements not only bring pride to the Baltimore community but also serve as an inspiration for future engineers committed to sustainable solutions.
