In the early hours of Friday, March 7, 2025, a massive four-alarm fire broke out in the 2200 block of North Fulton Avenue in Baltimore’s Penn-North neighborhood. The blaze, fueled by strong winds, rapidly spread across multiple rowhomes and businesses, prompting a large-scale response from the Baltimore City Fire Department.
Firefighters arrived on the scene around 4 a.m., encountering intense flames that had engulfed several structures. The fire escalated quickly, reaching a fourth alarm by 4:30 a.m. Chief James Wallace reported that the fire had affected nearly 15 units, including both residential and commercial properties.
Despite the severity of the situation, no injuries have been reported among residents or firefighters. However, the fire led to the displacement of at least eight individuals, who are currently receiving assistance from the Red Cross.
The firefighting efforts were particularly challenging due to the wind-driven nature of the blaze, which caused rapid spread and multiple roof collapses. Crews worked tirelessly to contain the fire, and by 7 a.m., officials confirmed that it had been brought under control.
Authorities have urged the public to avoid the area of North Fulton Avenue between Reisterstown Road and Woodbrook Avenue as cleanup and investigation efforts continue. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
This incident highlights the bravery and dedication of Baltimore’s firefighters, who faced formidable conditions to protect the community and prevent further devastation.
