Renowned Grammy-nominated R&B and neo-soul singer Angie Stone tragically passed away at the age of 63 following a car accident in Montgomery, Alabama. The accident occurred early Saturday morning as Stone was traveling with her band from a performance in Alabama to Atlanta. Their van flipped over and was subsequently hit by a big rig, leading to her untimely death.

Angie Stone began her illustrious music career in the late 1970s as a member of the pioneering female hip-hop trio, The Sequence. She later transitioned to R&B and neo-soul, achieving solo success with albums like "Black Diamond" (1999) and "Mahogany Soul" (2001), which featured her hit single "Wish I Didn't Miss You." Throughout her career, Stone collaborated with notable artists such as D'Angelo, Alicia Keys, Missy Elliott, and Snoop Dogg.

In addition to her music career, Stone ventured into acting, appearing in films, television shows, and on Broadway. She earned three Grammy nominations and was recognized for her songwriting prowess. Stone is survived by her two children, Diamond and Michael. Stone was actively engaged in her career at the time of her death, having recently announced plans for extensive tours and new projects, including shows across the UK.

She had also been scheduled to perform at the 2025 CIAA Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament in Baltimore, Maryland, an event celebrating the 50th anniversary of the women's championship tournament.

The CIAA Tournament, held from February 25 through March 1, 2025, is a significant cultural event, and Stone's planned performance was highly anticipated by attendees.

Stone's unexpected passing has left a profound void in the music industry. Her contributions as a trailblazer in hip-hop and a soulful R&B artist have left an indelible mark on the hearts of fans and fellow musicians alike.
