Eugene Henley Jr., widely known as “Big U,” has been named as one of 18 alleged members of the Rollin’ 60s Neighborhood Crips facing a range of federal charges, including drug trafficking, conspiracy, and firearms offenses. The U.S. Attorney’s Office announced the sweeping indictment on Wednesday, marking a significant crackdown on one of Los Angeles' most notorious street gangs.

According to federal prosecutors, the charges stem from an extensive investigation into the gang’s alleged criminal enterprise, which authorities claim involved large-scale drug distribution, illegal firearms transactions, and acts of violence aimed at protecting and expanding their influence.

“The Rollin’ 60s have been a long-standing criminal organization involved in serious and violent offenses,” the U.S. attorney’s office said in a statement. “These indictments are part of a broader effort to dismantle organized crime networks operating in our communities.”

Big U, a well-known figure within both the gang and hip-hop community, has long been regarded as a prominent voice in Los Angeles. In recent years, he has been involved in community outreach and gang intervention programs, attempting to bridge the gap between street culture and efforts to curb violence. However, federal authorities now allege that behind the scenes, he remained engaged in criminal activities tied to the Rollin’ 60s.

Court documents reveal that the suspects, including Henley, were allegedly involved in a criminal conspiracy spanning several years. Prosecutors claim the group trafficked narcotics, engaged in money laundering, and stockpiled illegal firearms while using violence and intimidation to maintain power.

Several of the defendants have been linked to violent offenses, including assaults and homicides, as part of an effort to enforce gang loyalty and eliminate rivals. Investigators also cited intercepted communications, financial records, and witness testimonies as key evidence in the case.

Henley’s inclusion in the indictment has sent shockwaves through both law enforcement and the hip-hop industry. Having worked closely with rappers, athletes, and entertainment figures, Big U has been known for his efforts in mentorship and community initiatives aimed at reducing gang-related violence.

His legal team has not yet issued a statement regarding the charges, but supporters argue that his recent work in gang prevention should be taken into account. If convicted, he and other defendants could face lengthy prison sentences, with some charges carrying potential life terms.

All 18 defendants are expected to be arraigned in federal court in the coming weeks. Prosecutors have indicated that additional charges or arrests may follow as the investigation continues.

The indictment represents a significant federal push against gang-related crime in Los Angeles. Authorities remain committed to dismantling violent organizations, while the case against Henley and his co-defendants will be closely watched by both the legal system and the broader community.
